Identity and exhibition design for Ireland’s entry at the Venice Architectural Biennale 2014.
Infra Éireann explores the relationship between architecture, infrastructure and technology in the building of a new nation. Constructed as an open matrix of drawings, photographs, models and other artefacts, the exhibition presents ten infrastructural episodes – Negation, Electricity, Health, Transportation, Television, Aviation, Education, Telecommunications, Motorways, Data – spanning a period of one hundred years from 1916-2016.
We collaborated closely with the Infra Éireann team from the beginning of the project. Modularity, and in particular the square module, was explored simultaneously by the graphic design team and architectural design team. This was reflected in the design of the identity and print ephemera for the exhibition.
